EMFEST – a BIG success

Emerald Lake Regional Park “EMFEST”

It’s back and bigger than ever! Saturday August 2nd and Sunday August 3rd saw the return of Emfest to Emerald Lake Regional Park. The festival held over the two days was to help raise funds for recreation activities in the park. There were more people in attendance than the park can remember seeing for a long time. Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the festivities and supported all of our efforts to improve this beautiful park.

A silent auction was held Saturday and Sunday with an outstanding amount of beautiful items for everyone and every age to bid on. Thank you to our corporate sponsors SaskTel, SaskPower, SaskEnergy, Saskatchewan Rough Riders, Cameco, Federated Co-op, local businesses McHansons Hardware Leask, Innovation Credit Union Shell Lake, Bramshott Spirits Leask, Woodland Pharmacy Leask and all of our Leaseholders for their wonderful donations. Special thanks for the support we received from our neighbouring cabin owners as well.
A huge 50/50 raffle was held both days with the winning ticket of $775.00 going to the lucky Corina Koczka Dean. Congratulations!

Saturday afternoon saw a host of children’s activities with a bouncy castle, a slip and slide into the water, races, face painting, watermelon eating contest, sand castle building contest and a water tug-o-war. A great time was enjoyed by all of the children and families.

In attendance, wearing her crown and sashes was the beautiful Taralyn Donohue. She is Miss Teen Saskatchewan, Miss Teen Canada first princess and Miss Beauty International. The children were thrilled to be in the presence of a real live princess. Thank you Taralyn!

Saturday evening we hosted a beer garden with a DJ dance. An excellent evening was had by all.

Sunday morning was a delicious pancake breakfast followed in the afternoon by an iron man contest. It was great watching the teams endure the grueling course. This was followed by an evening burger BBQ and nite golf.

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers that helped to make this event a memorable one for all. Todd Joyes, Guy Robin, Lionel Pelletier, Bryce Schmuland, Sebastiaan DeBoer, Amanda Helgeton, Vicki Dreger, Todd and Judy Brandt, Kim Lorman, Duane Lipp, Barry and Doris Colson, Bill and Alma Dube, Shirley Lynn, Barb Cross, Darryl Oshanek and Deanna Herman, Ruth and Andrea Parenteau , Bonnie Bond, Milly and Andy Lamontagne, Bruce and Roberta Mansell, Jess Mansell and Daithi Nolan, Lesley and Paul Weiman, Kami and James Turner, Nicole Mollberg, Terry Lynn, Derrick Doell, Colby and KariAnn Robin, Tasha Gutek,Lori and Dean Gordon, Bev Tarr, Lynn Elder, our wonderful 50/50 ticket sellers Nancy and Brenda Pelletier, Ed Wilkinson, Leanne Eddy, Ashley Willems, Lisa Harms and special thanks to Irene Wilson who turns 90 this year and sat through both days manning the silent auction. Also special thanks to Trevor Cross for capturing all of the wonderful memories in pictures. We wouldn’t have had such a huge success without all of you! My apologies if I have missed anyone!
