June 15- July 5th
Well, Well, Well
We’ve been busy!
A couple reminders:
- We will be ordering engraved plaques for the memorial garden this month. They are $35 plus tax and can be ordered at the main office. These plaques are mounted on the memorial sign at the main beach where they can be read while enjoying a picturesque view of the lake. Please stop by and place your order by July 20th. If you want to order online please email or text (numbers below).
- Every car in the park needs to have a seasonal park pass or day pass displayed. Pick yours up at the main office.
- Main office is now in summer hours: 9am to 9pm
- Beach Concession is now open: 11am to 9pm (food closes at 8pm)
- Swimming Lessons for week 2 are full! Please register for week one if you still need a spot!
Staff have been hard at work getting through our list of to dos on top of all our regular maintenance, service and mowing.
We have:
- Painted the floor of the beach concession
- Been working on the mural at the main entrance
- Planting flowers for the main patio
- Rebuilding the beach stairs and planning for the new ones
- Received our permit from the water authority for the second set of stairs on the west side of the main beach
- Been testing the well water daily to ensure chlorine levels are maintained
- Been making PUSH POPS for sale at both stores!
o These push up containers will be our pre-dished portions of lemon sorbet, pineapple sorbet and now chocolate soft serve!
o The sorbets are notoriously hard to scoop and take longer to scoop. By prepackaging in push pops we can reduce wait times for customers, ensure there is no cross contamination with dairy, nuts etc., allow us to have more ice cream options in the main store.
o They have been very well received by our non dairy customers! $3 at both locations
- Been Making Deluxe Ice Cream Sandwiches!
o These (so far) are available in:
§ Homemade chocolate chip cookie, foothills sea salt caramel fudge ice cream, dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt
§ Rice Crispy square made with toasted rice crispies, and browned butter, vanilla soft serve and topped with a drizzle of white chocolate and sprinkles
§ Homemade Oreo cookies, Cookies and Cream Ice Cream, dipped in chocolate and rolled in cookies and cream bits
§ Others may appear as inspiration strikes! $8.75 at both locations
- Been making dipped mini cones!
o These are pre-packaged mini cones that give us the time needed to heat up our delicious chocolate dip! $3 at the main store
- Our maintenance students have started and we appreciate their strong backs and enthusiasm! You’ll see them around the park cleaning, mowing, tilling and many other glamourous maintenance jobs. Be sure to say Hi!
- Our beach store opened much to the delight of ice cream lovers and snack eaters! We will once again feature Foothills ice cream and Prairie Meats products!
o New this year:
§ Fiesta Poppers – a jalapeño popper that is crunchy, spicy, cheesy and delicious! $8
§ Mini Donuts! Hot out of the frier and tossed in cinnamon sugar $5
§ Ice Cream Nachos – Like a sundae with a side of waffle cone chips and whipped cream! $6
§ Gourmet Slush: Our new base slush gives us options for exciting new flavours: Peach, Mango, Pina Colada, Grapefruit, Salted Caramel, Chocolate $2.50
§ Add a shot of these flavours to our already delicious Frappuccino Slush! $2.50, $0.50 for added flavour
- We held our annual AGM in Leask and it went very smoothly with lots of great feedback from the community. Thank you for coming out! If you have suggestions for the park we always have our suggestion box at the main office or email manager@emeraldlake.org or text 639-477-0195
- Bears have been spotted in the park – please keep all your garbage, food, PET FOOD etc inside a building, trailer or vehicle. If you see a bear please report it to the office 306-466-2089
- The campground has been nearly full for the past two weekends, keeping us busy all around the park. We have had many compliments about the cleanliness of the park and the friendliness of the staff – keep up the great work team!
- We have ordered some new equipment for the Beach Concession that will help with our organization, efficiency and space considerations.
- We have installed a new table at the Beach Concession that will make cleaning our soft serve machine easier, as well as making it easier to clean the floor and move the machine to the city for maintenance bi-annually.
- The burn ban has been listed but rain is sparce, keep those fires under close observation and make sure they are well out when you are leaving them unattended.
That’s all for this time, talk to you again next week!
As always, please stop me anytime to ask questions or say hello!
